2012 Members Training
This year the Clubs Training Team have developed a number of new training courses designed specifically for you. As a Sailing Member many of these courses are subsidised by the club. They include:
RYA Dinghy Instructor
For those of you who have the necessary skills and the desire to work as a volunteer with our team of highly skilled and experienced team of Instructors. Your role as a Dinghy Instructor you will find very rewarding and will also help with your own sailing skills. Please contact any Club Instructor or Keith the Clubs Training Principle if you are interested. These courses attract a 100% Club subsidy.
Youth Sailing ( Dinghy )
Friday evenings – 6:30pm to 9:00pm, starting on Friday 1st June through to 24th August
Improver and Advanced Sailing. ( These courses are free and fully subsidised by the Club )
11th August, 18th August, 8th September and 13th October. All sessions start at 12:45pm.
includes - Racing, sailing with spinnakers, seamanship skills and performance sailing.
Pink Sailing -Ladies Only ( This course is open to partners of Members, social members & Club members )
The sessions will run for 6 weeks on Thursday evenings ( 18:30pm to 9:00pm ) starting on Thursday 17th May
Youth Power Boat Training – starts 13:00hrs to 16:00Hrs
First Session - May 26th, June 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th and July 7th.
Second Session – September 15th and 22nd
Sigma 38 Sailing , Cowes Weekend - Two days and nights sailing on the Solent in Sigma 38's. Meeting at Ocean Village Friday evening, 28th September and sail to East Cowes, Saturday 29th sail training Navigation boat handling on route to Lymington Yacht Haven. Sunday 30th Sept, head out to the Needles for photo opportunities, then race on return to Ocean Village. Estimated Charter £165 per person, excludes marina fees, food and drink.
Senior Instructor – Pre Assessment Course, This course is available for four potential Senior Instructors. It is designed to assess and develop your management skills when running single and multiple training sessions. Pre-qualification for this course is each student to have held and continue to hold a Dinghy Instructors Certificate for a minimum of 2 ( two ) years. 6th October and 13th October 2012
First Aid – January 2013
Some of the above are RYA courses and successful completion results in obtaining the associated RYA certificate.
