Update from the Youth Fleet Captain (Spring 2010)

HI, I'm Alex the new Junior Fleet Captain for Burton Sailing Club.

The first thing I would like to do is to congratulate Eric in winning the best Cadet trophy for 2009, and good luck in proving his metal in the junior championship which is being held on Sunday 29th August. This weekend is the beach bum weekend, so come down for some informal sailing!!

Just a quick update on what is going to be happening soon:
  • You could go off to Trent Valley sailing club for the first round of the DYS cup 2010!! On the 10th April!! To find out about future events with DYS follow this link. I would recommend these events, they are well attended by Burton Sailing Club members Sam and Emma.
  • 17th April Mike has very kindly arranged for a laser specialist to come down to the club for some FREE training for any club member who has a Laser
  • 24th April brings the Junior/Novice championship along with its own trophy, it is position that is wanted by many sailors within the club, the novice series continues until 4th September. At which point, I hope that you will come and join in with the Sunday racing.
  • Chloe and my self are going to be running some FREE get into sailing sessions through out the summer, and we would like every junior from the local area to come down and have a go at sailing. These will be based around having fun, and enjoying sailing.
If your interested in this AWESOME series of events or have any ideas about what you would like to do on these just drop it off at the sailing club, or post it to: Alex Hall, Burton Sailing Club, Foremark Reservoir, Chestnut Avenue, Milton, Repton, Derby, Derbyshire, DE65 6EG.

The junior training course is being held 2/3/4/5/6 August 2010. This is a great chance for you to get into sailing as well as gaining the RYA Junior Pathways Award.

I hope to see you all at some point enjoying sailing at Burton Sailing Club, and if you have any questions, just come and find me I am at the sailing club most Sundays through out the year.
